Stop ice dams with HEATIT HIRD – fully ETL & CSA certified for complete safety. Must be used with a thermostat + GFCI. 👉 Shop cable + thermostat together.
Winter is coming. Is your roof ready?
Every winter, thousands of homeowners face the same nightmare: ice dams. These thick ridges of ice form at the edge of your roof, preventing melting snow from draining properly. The result? Water backs up under your shingles, leading to:
-
Leaking ceilings
-
Peeling paint
-
Rotting rafters and sheathing
-
Mold growth
-
Expensive emergency repairs
You know you need a heating cable. But not all cables are created equal. Some cut corners on the most important thing: safety.
That’s why HEATIT engineered the HIRD series.

✅ Fully ETL & CSA Certified – No Shortcuts, No Compromises
Many products on the market claim to be “safe” but only have partial certification – for example, a UL-certified plug attached to an untested, uncertified cable. That’s like buying a car with airbags but no brakes.
HEATIT HIRD constant wattage heating cable is 100% ETL and CSA certified – meaning the entire assembly (cable, insulation, braid, and connections) has passed the most rigorous safety tests in North America. Our plug is also UL certified.
What does this mean for you?
-
Complete safety assurance – Not just a component, but the whole system.
-
Superior performance – Tested to withstand real winter conditions.
-
Peace of mind – You’re protecting your home, not gambling with it.
🔒 Trust the brand that tests everything: HEATIT.
❄️ Designed to Prevent Ice Dams
HEATIT HIRD heating cable is specifically engineered to stop ice from forming on:
-
Roof edges (inclined roofs with noncombustible shingles like asphalt)
-
Gutters
-
Downspouts
When installed correctly, the cable maintains a melt path for water to flow freely, preventing the freeze-thaw cycle that creates destructive ice dams. Your roof stays dry. Your gutters keep flowing. And you stay warm inside.
🔌 6 ft 18/3 Cold Lead with Plug – Ready to Install
Forget complicated wiring or hiring an expensive electrician just to get started. The HEATIT HIRD cable comes with a pre-assembled 6-foot cold lead and plug. This means:
-

Easy DIY installation (instruction manual, clips, and spacers included)

Tough XLPE inner insulation + weather-resistant PVC outer jacket (rated for high and low temperatures)
-
100% screen rate – Aluminum foil + tinned copper braid for maximum safety and health protection against electromagnetic leakage

🛡️ WARNING: Read This Before Plugging In
We care about your safety more than anything else. Please read carefully:
This HEATIT HIRD cable MUST be used with BOTH:
A Thermostat – Prevents overheating / fire risk
A GFCI Outlet – Protects against electric shock
Plugging directly into power = DANGER.
DO NOT allow the heated portion of an operating cable to touch, cross over, or overlap itself or touch another de-icing cable.
These aren’t suggestions – they are requirements. Follow them, and HEATIT HIRD will serve you safely for years. Ignore them, and you risk fire, shock, or damage to your roof.
🌡️ The Perfect Pair: HEATIT Thermostat for HIRD Cable
To meet the safety requirements above, you need a reliable thermostat that automatically controls your HIRD heating cable. HEATIT offers the perfect companion product:
