As the temperature drops, winter is approaching. In winter, Ice dams will easy to form. When the snow melts on the upper, warmer part of a roof, it runs down toward the colder eave overhang, where it freezes. As the ice accumulates, it forms a blockage that prevents the snowmelt from flowing off the roof. Then the ice dam formed. Besides, large ice dams are very heavy and can damage gutters and even present a safety hazard to people below. Today, the article will introduce four heating cables that work on the roof ice dam, includes HIRD, JHSF1, PLSR1, JHSF1-CT.
HIRD is a constant wattage heating cable, it has a constant output power and uses Tough XLPE as inner insulation, weather-resistant PVC (high-low temperature) as out jacket. 100% screen rate with the Aluminum foil and tinned copper braid. The constant wattage is 5 w/ft. It used for metal or plastic gutters/downspouts, Inclined roofs Roofs with noncombustible shingles (Ex.: asphalt shingles) that meet national building codes. Besides, HIRD roof heat cable cannot used on slate, stone, metal and ceramic roofs.
JHSF1 is a self-regulating heating cable; it can adjust output automatically based on the ambient temperature at each point along the cable, so you will not need to worry about overheat risk. It can be used on flat roofs, metal roofs, asphalt roofs, rubber roofs, slate roofs, stone roofs, metal roofs, ceramic roofs, composite (tar and gravel) roofs and so on. Rated 10W/ft at 32°F (0°C) for roof de-icing. And JHSF1 was designed to prevent the ice dam formation not to melt the ice dams which were already formed. So we need to turn on the cable at the beginning of snowing. Besides, JHSF1 also suitable for use on plastic and metal water pipes( including inlet pipe, drain pipe, sewer, palm tree frost protection etc.). It can be used by straight, spiral and overlap.
PLSR1 is an industrial grade self-regulating heating cable. When under colder conditions, the heat output increases, and as the temperature rises, the output decreases to save on energy. And it is suitable for plastic or metal pipes, gutters and downspouts. Provide pipe, roof, and gutter system protection from damage due to freezing. Rated 6W/ft at 40°F (5°C). Suitable for dry or wet location.
JHSF1-CT, a self-regulating heating cable, has the highest waterproof grade, which is IP68. It can be used for underwater applications. JHSF1-CT can be used on flat roofs, metal roofs, asphalt roofs, rubber roofs, slate roofs, stone roofs, metal roofs, ceramic roofs, composite (tar and gravel) roofs and so on. And it not only use as roof de-icing. It also suitable for plastic and metal water pipes( including inlet pipe, drain pipe, sewer, palm tree frost protection, etc.). JHSF1-CT cables are also configured for non-hazardous and hazardous locations, including areas where corrosives may be present.
Install heating cable can prevent the formation of ice dams well and saving a lot of money. If you still have problems with the heating cable, please do not hesitate to let us know. HEATIT will always on your side.
